A few changes and nothing more to say...
I changed a few things around… Now, all of my family/friends photos are in the Occasional section under the new title “Pictures” (check above — I just thought it made more sense this way). Where they used to be — in the Visual section — will now be filled by my more deliberate photography projects.
Woohoo!

YES YES YES...
Retro weekend continues as I just got back from seeing Yes at the Glen Helen Pavillion just outside of Rancho Cucamunga. I went with my friend Scott. All I can say is that we got our very delighted hearts’-fill of progrock goodness. They were awe-inspiring! (An experimental orchestration of masterpieces!)
Kansas (?!) opened for them and well, they were all right. The drummer played so off-time it was kind of embarrassing.
It was an “old people’s show” (we were out of the parking lot before midnight). All in all, is was a great night.
Oh! I found out why Berlin was sounding so Industrial—well, at least one song, anyway. It was written by Steven Siebold of Hate Dept. fame! Too weird.

BERLIN BERLIN BERLIN (industrialites of Y2K!)...
My good friend (and ex-roommate) Mitchell (Minus Sign, Idiot Stare, Dissolve, Adkoc Producer, etc.) is the new keyboard player for Berlin if you can believe it (since April). I went to see them play tonight at Hollywood Park in Inglewood. All I can say is, “Wow.”
Terri Nunn is still amazing — vocally and visually (writhing on top of an eight-foot-high speaker cabinet or not!). It is her birthday — well, on the 26th, actually.
From “For All Tomorrow’s Lies” (with sign language accompanyment!) to “Sex ( I’m a… ),” the entire show was incredible. They even did Blondie’s “Shayla.” There was a crowd of about 600-1000 people and they sounded like an arena.
So, why is there the sub-head of “Industrialites of Y2K” on this entry? This may be some influence from Mitchell, but the songs were so…electronic sounding. And not in the standard 80’s cheese-synth way, either. It was hard-core.
You should pick up their new album “Sacred and Profrane LIVE (2000).” Find out more at www.berlinpage.com.

Visualize...
I’ve done a REALLY good job filling up my web server space with videos! Still, I did an even better job with getting them all down to a reasonable download size. I hope you enjoy them.
Speaking of the Visual section, the Visual section of my brain is starting to churn over some new ideas for some new Flash stuff. I’ll keep you posted.

"The Green Mile," stealing, and Tetris...
Wow! An update more quickly than I thought. I’m so proud of me.
I saw “The Green Mile” tonight. It was OK, but I didn’t think it was as good as everyone said. I didn’t cry.
I have to make a correction to my first posting. I didn’t mean to imply that I had the original idea to put a journal up on my site at all. Somewhere down the line, I think it just hit me to do one too. In actuality, it was a guy I met through mutual music circles named Scott Evans (see Sensational section for link) who inspired me to put the journal up. Mine will probably never be as funny — or as regularly posted — as his and I’ll probably steal more from him in the future.
I just finished playing a game of Tetris. I play it a lot—I’ve found that it’s the best way for me to take my mind off of a subject, yet still think about it subconciously. I have most of my revelations (design-wise, at least) playing Tetris. I didn’t have any tonight. The best (traditional) version I’ve found so far is Tetris Max for the Mac. My favorite version of all time is Tetrisphere for the N64. My ex-girlfriend and I came across it near when we first met and instantly got addicted. I try playing every once in a while now and it just isn’t the same. It’s still an awesome game, though.

Journal entry numero uno...
So, I had this idea to start a journal on my site. This is the first entry. The section is called, “Occasional,” because I know that I won’t update it as much as I should.
Let’s see… It’s the middle of June and already so much had happened! My brother, Luke, got marrried on June 4th to, Sarah Lasater, in Boulder, CO. They’re on their honeymoon right now and will be out this way for a California family and friends reception.
My sister, Amie, is getting married to, Matt “Mac” Beard, on August 5th in Long Beach. I just saw the invitations and they’re rad.
Oh, me? Well, I just got back from a birthday trip to Las Vegas. I went with my friends, Bill and Allen. We lost a lot of money.
Freelance work keeps me busy. I’m teaching Flash, Sound Editing, and a number of other things at a two-week program for high school students in August called CyberSummer—this will be my second time.
I guess that’s about it for now!
